quilts done!

three flimsies went home all grown up and quilted

Madeline had two:
a grey and yellow HST quilt. it is a wedding present.
since the fabrics were a bit on the 'busy' side, we decided that my E2E swirl in a grey thread would look nice.
then this little 1600 variation quilt in turquoises. her niece called 'DIBS' the minute she saw it.
the backing was this beautiful paisley print that has tons of quilting design possibilities!
Melanie picked up her red and cream snowball quilt.

(barney was supervising the photo shoot)
i decided a free motion baptist fan in a red thread that matched the fabric in the quilt.

this is the first customer quilt that i BFed.
barney is feeling tons better!! look at that smile.

he says, 'boof buff wuff fuffbuff guffh' which i'm pretty sure translates to 'thanks for all the well wishes, i'm feeling much better. throw the ball!!!'
i need some help-

i have all this University of Tennessee Volunteers fabric and i'm wanting to make me a quilt with it and i was wondering if anybody had suggestions on what pattern would look good. i would like something simple that shows off the fabric...i'm only wanting to use three colors- orange (duh), white, and the prints i have...

GO BIG ORANGE!!
ROCKY TOP!!

  1. How about a T shaped block, http://quilting.about.com/od/blockofthemonth/ss/t_quilt_block.htm
Like the one here? You could use all the colours you mentioned and it would go with the theme of the quilt!

  2. I've made several Trip Around the World quilts in Georgia Fabric, Red and Black Prints. Works up quickly because you can do some strip piecing.

  3. Great work. Love the gray and yellow.

Those oranges will make up beautifully. How about a simple rail fence design to show off the fabrics?

  4. What about a Sweet Garden quilt?

  5. I vote for the T shaped block! What a good idea! You should see the humongous Power T in a yard in Kingston done in orange wild flowers.....covers the whole hillside. I'll be at their first game. Go PACK!!!

  6. How about a Sawtooth Star where you could show case the special fabrics in the center square? You could even go the crazy quilt route, showcasing the specialty fabrics.

  7. Alas, I have no suggestions for your Tennessee quilt. The Baptist fan is a perfect motif for the red and white snowball quilt. It has such beautiful movement. I wish I had made the yellow and grey quilt. It is amazing and the swirl quilting works beautifully with it.

  8. I like the way they are draped so how about just a strippy. Youcould put a row of pieced stars in the alternate strips if you want.

  10. I don't know if you ever made this quilt....but if you didn't....use the original BQ pattern & make it similar to the Army quilt I saw earlier in the blog. BQ is super fast made with 2 basic pop colors & big square to show off the fabric of the other fabrics. Or it can be made with only 3 fabrics. It's my favorite go to pattern to spotlight fabric I Just Can't Cut!
