SURPRISE!!

moving into the house in the winter has made watching the yard come alive such fun!! not knowing what buds will lead to what and learning all the names of all the plants- it's been a learning experience.

i've been watching some lilies behind the AC unit since early spring. i thought they were common Easter lilies that didn't bloom for what ever reason....then i noticed blooms forming and have been checking everyday when i walk the dogs to see what surprise is next...

holy cow!!!

STAR GAZERS!!!
one of the few flowers i actually recognize and know!!

the blooms are as big as my hand!

and they smell amazing!

look at all the buds on that back stalk- more than 20!!

i take no credit on their cultivation- they came with the house :)

i can't wait til fall....i have a list of flowers i want to add to the collection!

meeting the neighbors

it's official- we live in the country!!!

see it??

let me zoom in.... i happened to be on the phone and looking out the window and she flicked her tail...

all this time i thought Lucky was barking at the neighbor's cat...

settling in

i'm getting there!! most of the boxes are unpacked...it's just a matter of deciding where stuff will live
Nemo's room is set up and functional...i've even loaded a quilt and finished it yesterday
the back bedroom will be my sewing area until the basement is finished. i just need to put my design wall on the wall behind my ironing board. i sewed in there last night. i made a couple more blocks for my selvage quilt.
the dogs are loving the sun spots. i'm loving all the windows.

more pictures later....

no place like it

HOME!

(we interrupt unpacking with access to the internet :)

getting there

my furniture was delivered and it's coming together and starting to get that 'home' feel :)

so here's the living room.  i'm debating getting a 5 shelf bookcase to put on the wall beside the TV console for my books

here's the living room looking back towards the front door.

i'm putting a sofa table against the wall behind the sofa, and the wall behind the loveseat will be the quilt wall. i plan on hanging my quilts there with one of my treadles in front..

here's my kitchen table!! i have plenty of room for a hutch on that wall beside the door. the hutch that is part of the collection the table comes from is out of stock, so i'm gonna be on the look out for a nice 'antique-y' piece to go there for linens and such..

the runner i have looks great on it, but way too long. so i'll make another and this one will live on the formal table in the dining room.

so here's the whole living area into the kitchen shot..ignore the clutter on the bar :)

*sigh* home sweet home

i L.O.V.E. all the light from the windows!!

notice barney- he followed me every where while i was taking pictures. most of the ones i deleted had the tip of his tail in the corner of almost all of them. i had to put him in the bedroom to get tail-free shots...

so where was lucky you ask?? snoozing hard on his new bed in the bedroom. i could hear him snoring....

so here's the decor plan-

i want to put a large clock above the fireplace- i just dunno which- cream face or white?? i'm leaning to the white to match the trim and i'm scared the cream face will blend into the wall...thoughts?

when you first walk in to the house, the dining room is to the right and i'm thinking of putting this painting on the wall. i remember faintly that i have some peir1 sconces packed away somewhere that would go on each side...

it's very Klimt....

i love this bicycle print!! the colors and style speak to me... a nice statement piece for somewhere...

speaking of statement piece *snicker snort*

davis is lucky i didn't snatch it and run!! plus it was on clearance- $30....of course if someone buys it for a house warming present it would be down right rude not to hang it somewhere...

if it ends up in the house, that's my story and i'm sticking to it

(i asked for a velvet elvis painting for our anniversary and didn't get it)
those floral *yawn* boring pillows on the couch will be making an exit one day, and i'm thinking of making some pillows with this color way of Swarm...

home shopping is just as much fun as fabric shopping *gasp* maybe even more fun *uh oh*

making it a home

so i have furniture for the living room!! i cannot tell you how happy i am to know that i won't have to look at our hand-me-down 80s couch much longer!! *squee*

i found a nice comfy couch and loveseat with two ottomans in a nice brushed twilly denim *sigh* i can't wait to fall asleep on it!!

those fufu floral pillows will be going buhbye...

one day, davis will hang the TV over the fireplace, but til then...

how to arrange the living room?  i want to be able to see the TV from the kitchen while cooking, doing dishes, etc....so i was thinking putting the couch facing the TV with the back to the kitchen and the loveseat at a 90degree angle with the back to the foyer with an end table in the corner...

any better ideas?

home for the holidays...

so, what's the bestest present you've ever got for Christmas?

my second favorite would be when davis surprised us last year and was home at Christmas...

my first??

the house....that's right!! the sellers would be out of town on the closing date, so all parties crammed and we closed friday!!

merry christmas to us!!

that bowl of candy was hard to ignore!!

it was meant to be

let me explain-

so the closing date of the house is so very near (i can just about feel the weight of the keys in my hand) i have been perusing Craig's List looking for dining room tables....i want something farmhouse for the kitchen and something classic and modern for the formal dining room. (i love saying "formal dining room" it makes me feel very grown-up :) )

i saw this set and fell instantly in love!!

see this is our eat in kitchen- notice that it is basically oak with black appliances. LOVE the corner sink!! the table will live over there on the other side of the bar, by the two big windows...

see that table is perfect! oak and black!! the grandkids can use the bench while the grown ups sit in the chairs *PERFECT*

or so i thought....i contacted the seller to see if i could come look at the table and to my heart breaking dismay- it had been sold *frowny*

so today i was at Walmart (of all places) looking for something specific and just happened to walk down the aisle where the furniture is displayed.

i about broke my neck doing a double take! there was my table!!!!

it's killing me to not put it together...

i found this table for the formal dining room and i go look at it on saturday!!!

now i get to start looking for living room furniture!! can you say chaise lounge :)

i love finally having a house to shop for :)

hey yall

i'm bacccckkkkk, did you miss me?? i missed you guys! honestly, the break was much enjoyed and needed. Davis made it safely back to Afghan, and now i'm working on getting back to a 'normal' routine...

i mentioned that i hadn't blogged before cause nothing interesting was happening....well, Novemeber has changed all that....let's see-

i meet my grandkids for the first time...now i see what all the fuss is about *grin*
there's Emmalin, the youngest
check out Davis and his goatee
Liam, the middle one
we went for a walk in the fields, and he would not let go of my pinky finger *heart melt*
and Kyra, the oldest and my newest little buddy :)
i took her to meet Hanna for the first time

i finished the wedding quilt the other night. it's is officially a quilt. thanks again to all who participated.

with no flash showing some of the marvelous quilting

most of my time with davis was spent hunting...  we both have had dreams to hunt the entire month of November (the rut) and we finally got the opportunity....

i was fortunate enough to put some meat in the freezer!! i shot a big bodied 8pointer the Friday before thanksgiving. 17 inch inside spread- 140 yard shot. meat's already in the freezer and i can't wait to throw the roast in the crock pot!!! if you want to see more pictures, check out my facebook album here. the last buck i shot was back in 2005!

i like this picture. i call it "Little Truck, Big Buck"

oh and the big news- we bought a house.....our dream home!! we had a 'home' checklist, and it hits everything on our lists except one (little) thing- it's all electric. i'll have to learn to cook on an electric stove...

it's in Sharpsburg, so we will be moving to the other side of ATL.

so we're in the process and hopefully will close just after christmas *merry christmas to us*

so that's what i did during my Thanksgiving holiday.
