quilt done, fabric, and patience

i finished up Melanie's blue and white jewel box quilt and she came and fetched it saturday.

so classic and pretty.

it will live on her daughter's bed.
i quilted my signature E2E, cotton candy, in white thread.

remember this fabric? my order came!!  I LOVE IT!!!

how do you know you have a fabric addiction 'problem'?? when you order your fabric and realize at checkout you received a BULK DISCOUNT cause you ordered so much....*blush* oh, who am i kidding....i'm not embarrassed one bit!!

holy cow! i did find an online shop that posted it with a tape measure underneath it for scale, but i was expecting moths 3 inches across. they are almost 8 inches across.....that's my 45mm rotary cutter! the picture shows just about a 22" x 36" section!!

and there's my hand!!

i don't plan on cutting it up, and was gonna use it for a backing (i like it way too much to hide it on the back of something). i think i might pair it with something else and make a 'wholecloth' quilt with it. i think i have enough to match the pattern across the seam, but we'll see...

*crap*  if i do that then i need some more yardage for pillowcases...it's a never ending vicious cycle *snicker*

"Are you done yet?""

this is my little gentleman patiently waiting for me to do my thing, so i can do whatever he's expecting me to do after i get done....

he's been sick lately. allergies turned into some nasty infections. see the pink spot on the bridge of his nose, just behind his sniffer? that was a nasty little scabby boo-boo. steroids were part of the prescription and i feel like i'm housebreaking a puppy....we go outside almost every hour or two.

i now know what will wake me out of a dead sleep at 3am...the sound of pee on carpet. poor guy!

but he's feeling better....

poor barney

i feel so bad for Barney. he had been acting 'funny' and i didn't quite figure it til the other day.

so off to the vet we went, and i was right- ear infection. poor bubba...

so now we have liquid drops that go in his ears and oral antibiotics, plus i give him a benedryl so he can sleep through the pain (per vet directions) ....i am being a very good nurse.

i had no idea how much he actually weighed. i guessed him between 50 to 55 pounds. boy was i off- he is close to 70 pounds.....fatty :)

sunday stitches

so i cut all my fabric for my super simple HST and i was thinking while i was doing it that i swear i thought i'd blogged about the fabrics already....i did here and i knew that i had linked to the quilts that had inspired me...
so here's the two quilts that inspired me.

 first barb's quilt.
and i saw jennifer's quilt on flickr

i have all my squares cut and marked and i'm hoping to get all the squares sewn so that i can get them pressed and cut. then i plan on sewing them into random 9patches, then i'll sew the 9patches into the top. at least that's the plan....
apparent someone thinks they should be the center of my attention right now
what do you mean 'move' i assure you, madame, i do not pretend to know to what you are referring :)

oh and did you hear- whitney houston died....

the eyes have it

working on getting the SAL all pretty for yall....i'm thinking i'll start it the first-ish of February, so check back for it.

"i'm ready for my close up"

barney hasn't has his picture here in a while....and you can't post without a picture...

barney was on his bed and the sun was coming thru the window just right. i love that his eyes are the same color as he is...he's such a spoiled pooch.

i have only myself to amuse me sometimes

i have made it my misson to finish up as many UFOs as i can.

i'm calling it:
Taskforce Operation Distraction-
Elimating All UFO Threats
(be it foreign or domestic)

this is my lastest flimsy finish.  it didn't turn out quite as i envisioned

"A- I am a hounddog.
B- i don't cry, it's more of a whimper.
C- i chase squirrels, not rabbits.
D- i have enuf friends"

what is that smell?

i love it when barney hangs with me in the studio.

i don't like it when barney's belly is upset and he has gas....*stank!* my studio is in the basement and has no air current, so smells hang- just like the green clouds in cartoons

poor noodle....

do they make a canine Activa?..... i'll be running to petco for some wheat grass and maybe some cottage cheese in his food tonight....would yogurt help?

noodle head

what's that little grey thing you're holding? doesn't smell like anything worth eating...

leaving on a jet plane

i'm going to be heading out of town soon to teach LAing and will be scheduling some posts to keep yall distracted :)

here's barney on the couch the other night. i took it with my iphone. is he smiling? noodle dog

did you catch that?...i took the pic with my iphone....yup- i offically have a cell phone now. davis bought it for me. i have tried to stay away from a cell phone as long as i could, but he threw me in the 21st century. i am amazed by all the things it does. all this technology that fits in the palm of my bitty hand...he says it makes him feel better that i have in case of an emergency....i thought that was what the glock was for *grin*

never a dull moment

a little back history- last night barney was driving me crazy wanting me to throw that darned tennis ball. so i took it away and set it on my cutting table way in the back. usually when i do that he will relax, forget about it, and go lay down and sleep.
not last night...nope...i hear the awful-est noise and i turn around....yup, that's barney on top of my cutting table!!! i measured, my table is 35" from the floor...if he had a middle finger, i'm sure he would of showed that to me too...*shaking head* noodle dog

so to all those quilters that show pictures of their cats on their cutting tables- me and barney thumb our nose in your general directions!! dogs rule!!

*giggle* later...

quilters have always up-cycled

my granny told me stories about sending pap-paw to the feed store with scraps of feed sacks so he could get her more of the matching sack when he bought the feed to make more clothes and quilts.

today with society being more aware of the environment and trying to be more 'green'  i kindda chuckle....quilters have been recycling for years! we are always coming up with creative sources for fabric. (i've even made totes from dog food bags!)

i've quilted memoryquilts made from recycled kid's clothes, and let's not forget the ever popular t-shirt quilt.

tracey was no different- look at her sister's choice quilt made from scrubs...

i loved the solid black background and was ever so pleased when she mentioned she wanted feathers quilted there...

this past weekend, davis and i took barney to Bass Pro Shop to fit him for a hunter-safety orange harness and collar (he's in training to track deer). he went crazy over the fish swimming by in the big aquarium they have. he had a little crowd watching him try to figure out how to get them...

quilting support staff

this is why i 'invented' my homemade batting bar.

the fact that it keeps the batting off the floor was an added benefit :)

friends

a good friend is there when you need them, no matter what you need them to be

*smile*

davis took this picture last night

pieceful pooch

i wanted to share this picture of barney sleeping.....he looks so serene.

he's such a noodle...

okay i just had an idea....the hamster is running fast today

i'm gonna do a mini- giveaway.....let's see....reward...?....oh i know- i will make you a turtle pincushion using the pattern i bought yesterday at Intown Quilters....you pick the colors....

okay wondering what you havta do? come up with a cute/funny caption for barney's picture (to the left) and leave it as a comment. i'll let davis pick his favorite.....to you anonymous posters-make sure you leave your contact info please! (email)

deadlline...how bout the end of the month....Dec 31st....you can leave mutiple comments, but they must all be different though (*duh*)....

okay- thinking caps on....

noodle dog...

as a matter of fact, yes, my toes were cold, but now i need to quilt the next block.....

where the wild things are

there's a monster under my frame!

nevermind, it's just barney.
peek-a-boo, i see you noodle dog!

*wave*

i'mmmmm bbbaacckkk! did ya miss me? i missed blogging. i'd see something, take a picture, and start writing the blog in my head then sadly remember that i had no computer *frowny face*....but no more! *smiley, happy face*

my computer is back and all files were saved! *happy pants dance* whew....thanks to the wonderful computer guru in WA! i'm learning where everything is... it's like moving into a new place and having to figure out where to put everything and then remembering where you put it in the first place....and yes- i have learned my lesson- everything is securely backed up. did that as soon as everything booted up...oh, and antibiotics have my virus in retreat, so all is well again...well, for now anyways....*sniff, cough*

so i have ALOT of pictures to share (i apologize in advance to the people who follow with google reader) but i only have time for one right now....i know, i'm teasing, but it'll be worth it...lots of quilts were finished, plus i got all the show quilts finished (thank goodness) so i'll have that as a blog post on friday....

so what could be the problem when your quilting along and all of a sudden the quilt moves??? oh, the so-not-handy-right-now quilter pup....

doesn't it look like he's saying, "what?" that gray square thing is the foot petal for my motorized advance on the LA and he thought it would make a great pillow....

the bestest quilting buddy

i posted the bestest doorbell....so it's only fair. he's also a 'bestest doorbell' in training :)

my favorite 'melt your heart' moments are when i'm quilting along and he lays his head on the top of my foot and does that 'puppy sigh' of utter contentment....

yes, i'm jealous

so after three days of problem solving an issue with Nemo (my next step would of involved a sledge hammer and/or gasoline, hadn't decided) (ignore the bald spots next time you see me :) i finally get everything adjusted to where it should be...and i look over and Barney is showing me how supportive he is.....SUCH a hard life doncha think?
