THANK YOU for all the kind emails and comments!! i'm healing well and have been working on getting back to a routine!! it's amazing all the puns and jokes the surgery has provided. i've had some FUN conversations :) my incision has that nasty healing purple/bruise look to it *yuck*

things are getting back to normal

full disclosure here- no makeup *ack*

i've been quiet lately....i'm not apologizing- life's gotten/been busy! moving into the new house and Davis coming home for R&R.

there's one more thing that i've been quiet about til is was all said and done. i've been having issues with my thyroid which is nothing- i read somewhere that 1 in 5 women have thyroid issues, so i'm nothing special. but there for a while, before my diagnosis (hashimoto disease), i thought i was going crazy. lots of blood work, 4 different doctors, MIRs, biopsies were taken and tested. the "C" word came up....blah blah blah, you know the drill...

so yesterday i had my first ever surgery to remove the right side of my thyroid and it was test and *thankfully* it came back negative for cancer... *yay*

i'm resting and taking it easy. my dad is staying with me.  it's really sore, but the sore i can take- it's the itching under that tape that is driving me crazy :) swallowing feels like i'm trying to swallow a dry golf ball...yesterday was the worst- i keep coughing and burping up all that crap you get in your lungs from the anesthesia and it tasted HORRIBLE. i bet i brushed my teeth 16 times :)

so i promise once things heal up, i promise to get this blog back to quilty things. i do have some pictures to share of the last quilts i quilted before the big move, i'll post those later this week.

settling in

 i'm getting there!! most of the boxes are unpacked...it's just a matter of deciding where stuff will live

Nemo's room is set up and functional...i've even loaded a quilt and finished it yesterday

the back bedroom will be my sewing area until the basement is finished. i just need to put my design wall on the wall behind my ironing board. i sewed in there last night. i made a couple more blocks for my selvage quilt.

the dogs are loving the sun spots. i'm loving all the windows.

the last stitch

i have had this vintage quilt for years!! i bought it a llllloooonnnggg time ago from Ebay back before vintage tops could be sold for millions of dollars :) i think i paid around $40 for it.

out of all my vintage tops, this would be a top contender of a favorite. it sat in my cabinet patiently waiting for me to build my LAing skills to quilt it. then, i was stumped. what to do? it's not traditional and i couldn't make feathers look good....

so a couple days before my bday, at three in the morning (isn't that the prime time for all great creative sparks?) i knew how i was going to quilt it!!

i loaded it and treated my self a day 'off' from client quilting to quilt my little favorite green vintage find....

it will get to decorate a prominent wall in the house.

i like to think the piecer is up in her heavenly studio and is nodding her approval at her quilt finally being finished.

it'sssss back

today makes the 36th time the earth has gone around the sun since i took my first breath...

i'm gonna spend it finishing up the quilting on one of my favorite vintage quilts....i'll share pictures later :)

and i have a pot roast in the crockpot, mmmmm...

 

never say never

i've never really had a need to quilt a feathered wreath on a quilt cause, well, it's the whole round-peg-square-hole thing. so i haven't....i take that back- i did once on a quilt of mine and instantly hated it.

well, i found a quilt that a feathered wreath fits just fine.

so, ladies and germs- write this day down :) it took 6 years but

well, actually two. everyone deserves a friend.

getting there

 my furniture was delivered and it's coming together and starting to get that 'home' feel :)

so here's the living room.  i'm debating getting a 5 shelf bookcase to put on the wall beside the TV console for my books

here's the living room looking back towards the front door.

i'm putting a sofa table against the wall behind the sofa, and the wall behind the loveseat will be the quilt wall. i plan on hanging my quilts there with one of my treadles in front..

here's my kitchen table!! i have plenty of room for a hutch on that wall beside the door. the hutch that is part of the collection the table comes from is out of stock, so i'm gonna be on the look out for a nice 'antique-y' piece to go there for linens and such..

the runner i have looks great on it, but way too long. so i'll make another and this one will live on the formal table in the dining room.

so here's the whole living area into the kitchen shot..ignore the clutter on the bar :)

i L.O.V.E. all the light from the windows!!

notice barney- he followed me every where while i was taking pictures. most of the ones i deleted had the tip of his tail in the corner of almost all of them. i had to put him in the bedroom to get tail-free shots...

so where was lucky you ask?? snoozing hard on his new bed in the bedroom. i could hear him snoring....

so here's the decor plan-

i want to put a large clock above the fireplace- i just dunno which- cream face or white?? i'm leaning to the white to match the trim and i'm scared the cream face will blend into the wall...thoughts?

when you first walk in to the house, the dining room is to the right and i'm thinking of putting this painting on the wall. i remember faintly that i have some peir1 sconces packed away somewhere that would go on each side...

it's very Klimt....

i love this bicycle print!! the colors and style speak to me... a nice statement piece for somewhere...

speaking of statement piece *snicker snort*

davis is lucky i didn't snatch it and run!! plus it was on clearance- $30....of course if someone buys it for a house warming present it would be down right rude not to hang it somewhere...

if it ends up in the house, that's my story and i'm sticking to it





(i asked for a velvet elvis painting for our anniversary and didn't get it)

those floral *yawn* boring pillows on the couch will be making an exit one day, and i'm thinking of making some pillows with this color way of Swarm...
