damned curve balls

originally this blog post was gonna be all about Davis and mine's trip to Italy (maybe later) but now it seems like years ago...i had the rest of the year planned out- get back, hit the ground running and get back to 'seriously' quilting for my customers. i mean this year has been CRA-CRA for me and trying to quilt- the move, surgery, trip to italy, and now this...

god laughed and threw me a curve ball.    *strike three*

couple thursday mornings ago, i was on the interstate heading towards Marietta to deliver some quilts to a client when i was ran off the road. i will preface by saying- I'M OKAY or will be with time....

shaken, not stirred
once the truck and i exited the interstate, we flipped/rolled three times coming to rest on the side of the interstate. yes, my friends, i added to traffic that morning *sorry* the truck is totaled and off to the ER i went.  (Barney was not with me, thank god, which is rare. i always take him to Marietta with me.)

long story short- my left collarbone is severely broken (no quilting AT ALL for me) with a good majority of bruised ribs and a blood vessel in my neck shows some trauma. so the last two weeks have had me on the couch cleaning off the DVR (mostly Big Bang Theory) in a gentle medicated stupor. *wheeee*

thank you for all the "Where are you?" emails..it's nice to know that i couldn't disappear without someone noticing :)

  4. OOOh... I'm so sorry to hear this. I do hope you heal quickly - saying prayers for you. Thank goodness you survived that wreck. Holy Cow are you lucky! So my co-worker just came back to work today after being off 4 months from a....wait for it...a broken collar bone. You are going to have to change your Keep Calm and Quilt On to "Keep Calm, Rest and Heal".

  10. Oh Shannon! I am glad you will be OK, but what an awful thing to go through! I suppose the other car that ran you off the road was nowhere to be seen after the accident?

  11. That is not a pretty sight. Take care of yourself and heal properly before starting back into the quilting. Now is the time to really plan out the Italy trip.

  12. I'm so glad you're okay! Sorry it happened and threw such a wrench (to coin a phrase) in all your plans. Maybe something good will yet come of it. Hope so. Take care of yourself.

  14. Thank God you didn't sustain head injuries along with the rest of that list! Was this on the way home from the delivery? The quilts were not involved? That truck can be replaced but your time and artistry as well as that of the quilt makers cannot. Do let yourself have the time to recover from this. We will be patient right along with you. Blessings.

  16. Oh my goodness, so glad you will mend! So very sorry it happened, but seeing the truck, looks like it saved your life and you got out of it lucky! So, thankful Barney was not with you, I am afraid he would not have fared nearly as well as you did. So going to miss your artistry, have a special quilt I was going to call you about. Will just have to wait! Please let me know if you need anything.
    Take care, Edie Canales

  22. Oh my! Now I get it! I missed out because I was on vacation with only an I-Phone for communicating with the world. I am SO sorry for your accident, and the enforced "no quilting" rule. That's just so sad for you. Though, on the happy side, it's good to catch up on favorite TV shows! We love "Big Bang Theory" too. Lately we've been watching a BBC series called "Doc Martin." It's good for some chuckles. If it doesn't hurt too much to laugh, I recommend it. Take care of yourself. Bless you!

  23. Sorry to hear about your accident! So glad you survived. My daughter rolled her truck a couple of months ago and managed to get out right before it caught on fire completely. She only had a few scratches and bruises. Stay well!

  24. Holy smokes, Shannon! How did I miss this? I'm sure glad you're OK. Big Bang Theory is excellent convalescent company. :D Hopefully you'll be able to enjoy your applique now. A show quilt sounds cool!!
