on the quilting front....

i have been quilting...sorry to clog the blog with so many trip posts and nothing quilting...

today i redeem myself :)
first, betty's blooming batiks quilt...

since it looked like flowers, i ran with the idea for the quilting...

shot of the flowers on the back

shot of the border on the back

then i quilted tracey's OBW

with the busy fabric, it just got an E2E

*HOORAY* i have all the blocks hand appliqued for my birds of a feather quilt!!! i just need to piece all the HST and 4patch pieces that make up the setting. i am debating on a applique outer border. i'm scared that i don't have enough brown background to do it...

remember i started the quilt using the pattern from BlackBird Design in the "Birds Of A Feather" book, but became bored with 'copying' their designs and started seeing things i didn't like and started changing them...so it's 20% them 80% me:)

would it be okay to have an appliqued border that is a different color? i think i remember where i got the brown- i'm going to make a trip to see if i can get the same color...

  2. This is going to be a glorious quilt. And, yes, it is ok to use a different background fabric for the borders. Probably best to not be the same color (slightly different shade) because then it really does look like you ran out of fabric. lol
